There are many stories about a green moon being visible this month. I'm sorry to say, it's not true.
What's the suggested cause of the moon turning green
Stories are going around saying because of a planetary alignment, the Moon will take on an eerie green colour.
Well this month, there is no planetary alignment so that won't be the cause of anything turning green I'm afraid.
It was also suggested that on a certain date, the Moon would be near (almost in alignment in the night sky, not physically near) the planet Uranus , and it's eerie blue-green colour would make the Moon appear green.
Again, sorry - Uranus is only just visible to the naked eye and therefore any sunlight reflected from its surface would have almost zero effect on the Suns light reflecting off our closest celestial neighbour.
But I want to see a green Moon?
The only way you'll see a green Moon this year, or any other, is by wearing some green tinted glasses:

This is up there with the other recent hoax about Mars appearing as big as the Moon in the night sky. So if you read that the Moon will be turning green this year, sorry to disappoint you!
All the best, Mark
